K4D Learning Journey on Tax and Gender

There is a growing understanding that tax policy, tax administration and tax research should be gender transformative, to reduce discrimination and promote the economic empowerment of women. In recognition of FCDO’s effort to reshape and build its approach to tax and gender programming, this Learning Journey will bring together tax and gender teams to identify other tax and gender stakeholders and collaboratively devise a future approach to tax and gender for FCDO.

Learning Journey objectives

  • Introduce and grow awareness of issues of gender in taxation in the context of development, working with internal and external participants
  • Create consensus around priorities for tax and gender policy
  • Build capacity of the Tax and PFM Community of Practice and other staff in FCDO’s central and country offices to understand, apply and communicate FCDO’s reshaped approach to tax and gender programming

Learning activities

  • Mapping internal and external tax and gender stakeholders
  • Online discussions to build consensus around our narrative and tax and gender priorities
  • Webinars to raise awareness and understanding of tax and gender issues
  • ‘Action learning sets’ to reflect, discuss, and apply learning around tax and gender
