The main objectives of this study are to:
- Review existing evidence on the importance of women’s activities in local peace-building processes, and on the impact of policy interventions aimed at supporting the social, economic and political roles that women play in peace-building processes;
- Identify strategies for quantitative analysis in phase II by assessing and testing the suitability of existing datasets to generate sufficient rigorous evidence on the role of women’s activities in supporting or promoting peace and stability in their communities;
- Generate concrete quantitative evidence using existing available datasets on the effectiveness of women’s roles in peace-building processes in specific case studies;
- Propose tools and strategies for the analysis, collection of baseline and follow-up data and evaluation of future interventions implemented by United Nations agencies, the World Bank and other institutions so that outcomes related to the role of women in peace-building and stability processes can be better understood and measured more accurately.
