IDS Fellow Stephen Devereux is an Advisory Group member for an ECHO-funded project on emergency needs assessment, launched by the World Food Programme.
The Advisory Group provides guidance on the research being undertaken in key areas related to emergency needs assessments, and advises on coordination with related efforts elsewhere.
This involves advising and commenting on commissioned policy research studies and participating in two workshops at the World Food Programme.
The following themes are covered by the Advisory Group:
- the role of markets in emergencies and the effect of food aid on markets
- the effects and impact of food aid
- chronic versus transitory food insecurity; (4) pre-crisis information.
