Project

WFP-Ethiopia Meret Impact Evaluation

The World Food Programme (WFP) Ethiopia has requested TANGO (Technical Assistance to Non-Governmental Organizations) International to assess the evaluability of conducting an impact evaluation of the long-standing WFP programme in Ethiopia, which has been supported and managed by WFP in partnership with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Agriculture (MOA).

TANGO has developed a Theory of Change to guide and ground the evaluation process and structure. In essence, the evaluation would include a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate the impact of MERET interventions from 2003 through 2012 on the lives, food security and livelihoods of households and communities living within MERET watersheds.

The evaluation team will assess environmental and resilience building impact. TANGO proposes to bring together a team of researchers from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS-Sussex), the Ethiopian Economic Policy and Research Institute (EEPRI) within the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA), as well as experienced TANGO researchers, to conduct this study. IDS will contribute to the qualitative data collection and analysis; EPRI will contribute to the quantitative data collection and analysis.
