Whose Voice? Participatory Research and Policy Change

Published on 1 January 1997

The increasing use of PRA and related participatory approaches by NGOs, governments and multinational agencies has opened up new ways in which policy can be influenced by those who are poor, weak, marginalised and excluded. Based on the premise that sustainable policies require local voices to be heard, “Whose Voice?” demonstrates the far-reaching implications of such approaches for the development sector and examines the isses that need to be addressed in order to increase the effectiveness and acceptability of participatory policy-focused research.
