This annotated bibliography contains over 100 items summarizing the available literature on Indian rural works programmes which aim, in part, to alleviate rural poverty. Entries include published books, journal articles, unpublished academic work, official government manuals and evaluation studies. The bibliography restricts itself to literature on Indian programmes, although a few entries reviewing general issues relevant to all public works programmes have been included.
