This Report examines the possibilities for and constraints to increasing the participation of women in community-based water and sanitation provision. It reviews experiences of water supply and sanitation interventions and their attempts to involve women, and critically evaluates the concept of community participation. It highlights the key gender issues to consider in all aspects of such projects. A list of relevant organizations is included.
