WFP’s Support to Strengthening the National Social Protection System in Bangladesh

Published on 31 December 2024

This case study reviews the World Food Programme’s (WFP) support to social protection in Bangladesh over the last decade.

It assesses how WFP has supported the building blocks of Bangladesh’s social protection system and delineates lessons learned, particularly in the context of the Vulnerable Women Benefit (VWB) programme and the national School Feeding programme. This is a light-touch exercise, undertaken through a rapid literature review and interviews with WFP staff and government officials.
