The Student Experience
As an IDS student you will be part of a international student body learning and socialising with fellow students from across the world.
Students on our courses join a vibrant international community, connecting with students and faculty from around the world, and joining countless seminars, conferences, networking events and social and cultural activities. The seaside town of Brighton is a thriving centre for the arts, festivals and concerts, while the South Downs National Park, which surrounds the Sussex campus, offers a glorious landscape and outdoor pursuits. London with its many attractions is just an hour away by train.
"IDS truly offers a world-class, rigorous and interdisciplinary training in Development Studies, with a focus on both teaching and research within an inter-disciplinary environment. Whilst IDS offers a global experience, it has made good attempt to maintaining local relevance, particularly for students from emerging economies. It has made great strides in internationalising its teaching curriculum. Programmes are designed to inspire and prepare students for global citizenship and scholastic leadership, value-sets which I consider of great importance."
