Thesis: Changing Understandings of HIV and AIDS through treatment interactions: an anthropological study in the Gambia.

Rebecca’s doctoral research focuses on the experiences of people living with HIV in engagement with treatment programmes in the Gambia, West Africa 2006-2007. Here a Global Fund funded antiretroviral treatment programme has provided treatment since 2004. This research followed people’s experiences and engagements through clinics, support groups and other formal situations (government meetings and so on), as well as in daily life.
