Ahsan Zia Farooqui is a PhD student in Economics at the University of Sussex and a Doctoral Fellow at the International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD). His research focuses on revenue mobilisation and compliance with subnational tax in the context of weak state capacity.
Ahsan has worked on large-scale experimental interventions including governance, crime and policing, procurement transparency, vocational skills development, and poverty alleviation. He was also a co-investigator on a multi-country study aimed at increasing citizen trust in State through innovative sub-national policing reforms. Ahsan holds an MSc in Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan.
