Catherine Kyenret Angai

PhD Researcher

Catherine is a postgraduate researcher in the Power & Popular Politics Cluster at IDS. Her research analyzes the intersection of behavioural science and international development. Her  research interrogates the place of power in applying behavioral change interventions in development projects, looking at how power is conceptualized and whose knowledge counts.

Catherine has over 15 years’ experience working in the thematic areas of governance and accountability, citizens participation, elections, and human rights protection within the context of preventing and countering violent extremism.

She has previously worked on Democracy and Accountability for the Open Society Initiative for West Africa, managed projects in the areas of criminal justice reform, pre-trial detention and legal aid.

Catherine has extensive experience in project management, research and training for judges, magistrates and police officers on human rights standards. She currently consults on projects applying behavioural science approaches to anti-corruption in Nigeria.
