This seminar marks the launch of the Gender, Sexuality and Social Justice Edited Collection. Comprising 33 articles, photo essays, interviews and thought pieces with academics, activists and legal practitioners from over twenty countries in the world, the speakers will reflect on the complexity of the deceptively simple question posed by the Collection’s title: Gender, Sexuality and Social Justice: What’s Law Got to Do With It?
The Sustainable Development Goal principles reflect a shared commitment by the international development community to ‘leave no one behind’. Evidence from research, however, reveals the extent to which development is undermined by a failure to recognise power in much work on gender, sexuality and women’s empowerment.
This interactive event, taking place alongside CSW61, brings together young women activists, researchers, feminists and social justice organisations to talk about care dynamics, their implications for women's economic participation and gender responsive public services as a pathway towards women's economic rights.
In this session, Isabel Vogel, Melanie Punton and Rob Lloyd will reflect on the first year of a three-year realist impact evaluation, examining the Building Capacity to Use Research Evidence (BCURE) programme funded by the UK Department for International Development.
Women’s increasing entry into the labour market has not been matched by a change in the gendered division of unpaid care work. The UNDP Human Development Report 2015 estimates women do 3 out of every 4 hours of unpaid work.
