Can issue-based programming work to tackle corruption in Kenya?

Published on 19 July 2024

This K4DD Rapid Evidence Review examines the effectiveness of issue-based programming in combating corruption in Kenya.

It highlights lessons from case studies in Malawi, Nigeria, Ghana, Bangladesh, and Tanzania, emphasising the importance of adaptive, flexible, and politically informed programme designs. Key insights include the need for strategic patience, building trust among stakeholders, aligning approaches with government interests, and involving committed individuals and strong civil society. Success relies on local context adaptation, evidence-based advocacy, and stakeholder mobilisation.
