Thinking Big, Going Global: the challenge of BRAC’s Global Expansion (Research Summary)

Published on 1 January 2009

This paper explores the challenges BRAC, a Bangladeshi Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), faces as the first Southern origin International NGO to expand globally. It considers how BRAC counters current discourses on NGOs in development, which emphasise disappointment with NGOs’ performance, and a subsequent retreat by aid donors since the late 1990s.
