This launch event will explore approaches to financing social protection in protracted crisis contexts. The session will explore the state of play of international aid financing for social protection, the key gaps and challenges, and what might need to shift to ensure more effective and reliable financing in the face of protracted poly-crises.
Attendees can expect to hear an accessible summary of the key findings from the BASIC research paper Financing Social Protection in Protracted Crises, and to hear perspectives on what this means in the current challenging global financing context – from major stakeholders involved across the financing chain.
In the run-up to the fourth Financing for Development conference at the end of June, we hope that this event will be a timely opportunity to discuss the evidence, and the opportunities for development financing for social protection.
