Sussex Development Lecture ‘Is the Commonwealth a development agency?’

21 October 2010 17:00–18:30

Chichester lecture theatre, University of Sussex campus

Sussex Development Lectures presented by IDSSpeaker: Kamalesh Sharma, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth

The Commonwealth is probably known more for its engagement in the realms of democracy, than of development. Some would even have it set aside the overwhelming economic and human development needs of its 14 least developed countries and 32 small states. The Commonwealth Secretary-General thinks otherwise. Democracy and development go hand in hand, he says, and the power of the network of like minds addresses both.

All welcome.
