Matters of the Earth

Published on 17 September 2016

The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) has provided the following statement in response to recent UK media coverage that has named Matters of the Earth and IDS alumni Natalie Jeffers in relation to DFID funded IDS project activity:

IDS has contracted Matters of the Earth over a four year period to deliver a range of clearly defined communications, training and online learning projects helping to support marginalised groups in developing countries and raise awareness of issues relating to poverty and social injustice. Most recently this has included supporting DFID-funded work to tackle gender inequality in Nigeria which has reached tens of thousands of men and women, including policy makers in Nigeria responsible for improving the lives of women.

Matters of the Earth have a track record of providing cost effective, high quality work to the international development sector. Any personal involvement that employees of Matters of the Earth may have with other organisations, including Black Lives Matter UK, has not compromised this work and no IDS funding has supported these activities.
