Annual Review of DFID Support to the Vision 2020 Umurenge Programme (VUP), Rwanda

DFID has supported the Vision 2020 Umurenge Programme (VUP) in Rwanda since its inception in 2008. VUP’s purpose is to contribute to the reduction of extreme poverty in targeted Sectors. The VUP is rolling out at the rate of 30 Sectors (1 per District) each year. On all outputs, VUP is exceeding interim miles tones each year and is on track to meet targets by 2013, which include:

  • providing Public Works employment to 85,000 households;
  • constructing 450 operational community assets through VUP Public Works;
  • assisting 41,500 households with Direct Support transfers;
  • providing 35% of the adult population in VUP sectors with an active account in a Financial Services institution.
