Huma Haider is an independent research consultant, with over 15 years of experience producing timely policy relevant research and guidance for international development advisors.
She has worked for K4D (Knowledge, Evidence and Learning for Development) and the GSDRC, producing rapid literature reviews and topic guides on a range of topics, including various aspects of conflict, peace-building, transitional justice, reconciliation, and international humanitarian law.
She has researched extensively on societal divisions, social repair and coexistence in post-conflict societies, including the role played by diaspora communities. This research has centred in large part on the Western Balkans, in particular, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She has also worked as a lawyer at the War Crimes Chamber in Sarajevo. More recently, while living in Toronto, she has been exploring the meaning and process of indigenous-settler reconciliation in Canada.
