A Pillar of National Energy Security: Industrial Energy Efficiency

This chapter on industrial energy efficiency offers an overview of the policies and efforts undertaken by the Chinese government to reduce energy consumption, an important element of China’s energy security strategy.

The chapter identifies the achievements and remaining challenges. Based on the observations made during the period when best practice projects were conducted in the industrial sector, the chapter identifies the problems and needs currently affecting industry stakeholders, limiting the possibilities of energy efficiency policy to achieve the expected outcomes of reduced energy consumption.
