Mapping North-South Trade Agreements and its Impact on Trade Outcomes

Published on 31 May 2024

This K4DD Rapid Evidence Review is the first of three parts which together reviews the literature on the landscape of trade agreements, their barriers, and their impact on inclusivity measures.

This first review answers the question: what are the types of trade agreements facilitating North-South trade and how strong is the evidence on the impacts of these agreements on trade outcomes? This review starts by focusing on the nomenclature of different trade agreements; provides an overview of North-South trade agreements on both unilateral trade arrangements and reciprocal trade agreements; highlights studies analysing the impact of agreements on trade outcomes and the methodologies they used.
