What does closing civic space mean for development? Aid donors are concerned about the implications of restrictions on civil society for their partners and programmes, but to date there has been little clarity about what this means for development.

A sustainable bioeconomy can potentially do its part to replace the era of fossil resources and supply a growing world population. The transformation to such a sustainable bioeconomy is characterized by economic, ecological and social opportunities, but also by risks. These potentials and challenges of the sustainable bioeconomy are specified by this project for the German Environment Agency (UBA).
This Tearfund and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) parliamentary event, hosted by Jeremy Lefroy MP, will examine how investing in a circular economy in the developing world has the potential to create jobs, reduce pollution and improve lives for the world’s poorest.
This UNEA side-event will set the frame for global action on sustainable consumption and production, exploring how a circular economy can address resource constraints and generate economic opportunities for a pollution free world.
