Professor Naila Kabeer discusses the three faces of agency in feminist economics and their implications for gender equality in the 21st century. Naila Kabeer is the Professor of Gender and Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research interests include gender, poverty, social exclusion, labour markets and livelihoods, social protection and citizenship and much of her research is focused on South and South East Asia. She is a leading feminist economist who has had a major impact on global thinking on gender, empowerment and citizenship.  

A long-term partnership between Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) has led to the Pakistan Hub, a space that convenes diverse perspectives from within and about Pakistan globallyBy encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, mutual learning and partnerships, the Pakistan Hub aims to strengthen development thinking and practice including policy impact and the generation of actionable solutions to challenges from climate change to poverty and injustice.  

The Pakistan Hub will convene the Mahbub ul Haq Distinguished Lecture webinar series with the aim of hosting globally renowned speakers to share knowledge, research, and contribute towards ‘building forward differently’ in Pakistan and the South Asian region more broadlyThe series will be open to a global audience of academics, policymakers and practitioners.
