Equity in Food Systems Livelihoods: A Review of Conceptualisations, Approaches, and Actions

This paper reviews the different ways in which equitable livelihoods within food systems are conceptualised across academic communities, and what interventions are suggested to make food systems livelihoods more equitable. We analyse the tensions and complementarity between these different approaches and suggest an inter- and trans-disciplinary methodology.

The purpose of this paper is to outline a new intellectual and research agenda for future work taken forward by the Food Equity Centre on the theme of Healthy Diets. We outline our initial conceptual approach and summarise current thinking and action on dietary equity through four country case studies, then propose a number of research gaps that we will address in future research and publications together.
