The discussions will contribute to the process of establishing a Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, which aims to include commitments from all G20 members to tackle these challenges domestically and globally.

Discussion points

This in person event will take place with research and policy organisations from UK and international development perspectives, to discuss:

  1. What national or local policies and innovative strategies have been most effective in the UK and globally, in simultaneously addressing food insecurity, malnutrition, and poverty, breaking their mutually reinforcing dynamics?
  2. What international development policies and interventions have most potential for delivering a step-change in the fight to reduce hunger and poverty?
  3. What is the scope for mutual learning among the countries of the G20 on effective policies tackling food insecurity and poverty?
  4. What should the role of the G20 be in strengthening international development cooperation to ensure that no one and no country is left behind in the fight against hunger and poverty?

As part of Brazil’s G20 presidency, the T20 Brazil is bringing together think tanks and research centres from G20 members.
