Beth Richard is Production Editor in the Knowledge, Impact and Policy Cluster at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK.

She has worked for nine years in scholarly publishing, project managing a wide range of titles, advising on copyright and open access, and is currently responsible for the editorial production of IDS’ gold open access journal, the IDS Bulletin.

Beth’s interests lie in accessible and digital publishing, scholarly publishing, open access, and publishing studies. She is currently studying a Master’s in Publishing at Oxford Brookes University, UK. Her recent study focuses on the use of alternative (alt) text in scholarly PDF publications.

Previously, Beth studied International Events Management, and is a contributor to the edited book Identity Discourses and Communities in International Events, Festivals and Spectacles (2015, Palgrave Macmillan, DOI: 10.1057/9781137394934).
