Research Assistant

Cal Hudson is a master’s student at the Institute of Development Studies in the Governance, Development and Public Policy program. A researcher and policy analyst, he has key policy and operations management experience for international non-profit organisations, primarily in South Asia. Cal’s research interests include institutions during conflict, urbanisation, and governance.

Whilst at IDS, Cal has been involved in projects such as “Urbanisation in China and Africa”. This involved contributing to a literature review focused on cities in Kenya and Ghana. It looked at complex drivers of informality, citizen engagement and the use of technology for inclusivity. He has also worked as a facilitator for the professional development course “Global Development Policy and Perspectives”. This course was under the umbrella of the UK Anchor Institution for China International Development Research Collaboration. He is currently researching the impact of institutions created during rebel governance on post-conflict political settlements.
