The Coalition for Religious Equality and Inclusive Development (CREID) is inviting expressions of interest for the submission of short papers which share short case studies or evaluations that consider the struggles and opportunities for integrating Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) into global development or humanitarian programmes. The geographic focus of this call is Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
We are particularly interested in applications that speak to the following research questions:
- How was FoRB integrated in the project or programme?
- To what extend was the attempt (of integrating FoRB) successful and why or why not?
- What was learnt about this process? What factors might be replicable in other contexts?
This is the first such call and we are expecting to fund 4-5 case studies or evaluations in the first year of the programme, depending on how many applications meet the standard required.
Budget and timeline
Proposals of up to £15,000 are invited. We would strongly encourage applicants to budget for what is required rather than applying for the maximum.

How to apply
Applicants should complete the CREID-Expressions of Interest form (Word), the budget form (Excel), and submit this, along with CV(s) and example(s) of written work (even if not directly related) via email to [email protected].
Expressions of interest can be submitted by either individuals or organisations.
What happens if your application is accepted?
Successful applicants should expect to produce a paper which meets CREID quality standards for publication. This should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words long. The first draft of the paper will be due 3 months after the contract for the work has been signed and applicants should expect to do further work after a peer review process to finalise their paper. The final case studies or evaluations will be published as a CREID publication.
